The last Grand Prix of the 2024 MotoGP season, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, is officially called Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona in solidarity with Valencia, and it's not for nothing!
In support of the Community of Valencia, dramatically affected by the weather phenomenon that we know about, a whole series of measures have been taken in Barcelona to express the solidarity of the world of MotoGP with the region which has hosted it 26 times since 1999 , as part of the #RacingForValencia operation.
While Valencia will offer full refunds or rollover tickets for 2025, every ticket sold for Barcelona (note, limited numbers!) will contribute to a payment to Valencia's relief funds.
Furthermore, three auctions will be organized during the weekend.
Two of them will be held on site, on Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., in the fan zone of the circuit, with the participation on stage of MotoGP riders, legends and VIPs, to auction off the objects donated by paddock stakeholders. Fans who wish to attend the auction on site will be able to do so if they are in attendance at the Grand Prix, with any weekend ticket.
For those who cannot travel to contribute to the good cause, an online auction will be held, where truly unique lots will be up for grabs, such as the Moto3™ champion motorcycle from Maverick Viñales in 2013.
It is of course the blue KTM #25 of Team Calvo, victorious at the end of a breathtaking race in Valencia, against Alex
Rins on the KTM Estrella Galicia 0,0 and the late
Luis Salom on the KTM of the Red Bull KTM Ajo team.
The situation was simple for the three drivers united in 5 points in the general classification: they had to win the race to become world champion!
The three men took turns taking the lead, then Luis Salom lost all his chances by falling halfway through the race, while between Alex Rins et
Maverick Vinalesit came down to the last turn of an absolutely historic final lap!
Relive this moment of history here!
Further details about the online auction, including the full list of items and start and end dates, will be available soon.
A special #RacingForValencia t-shirt, the profits from which will go directly to relief efforts, will also be on sale soon, while donationsin which many pilots have already participated, are always welcome.
The benefits of these #RacingForValencia initiatives, from ticket sales to funds collected through auctions and self-donations, will be centralized in a specific MotoGP™ donation system thanks to the collaboration with CaixaBank. All MotoGP™ funds will then be donated to The Red Cross (Red Cross) which works on the ground in the Valencian Community, with the aim of helping the towns closest to the circuit.
