Alex Rins finished 16th in the Japanese Grand Prix, 40 seconds behind the winner. A result that frustrates the Yamaha rider.

A frustrated pilot: “ “It was a very difficult race. I’m drained because I did all the laps at a heart rate of 190 beats per minute, I gave everything to get that. We are in a critical moment, not because we are not working, but it is frustrating to see that you are giving everything and things are not getting better. I average 190 beats per minute each race to finish last, 40 seconds behind first. It’s complicated like that, but we give everything and we have to be patient. »

An adhesion problem: “The first part of the race wasn’t bad. I rode with the Austrian Grand Prix settings to see if we had improved the braking and if the rear tire remained more in contact with the asphalt. Overall it was a little better, as I felt a little more comfortable on the bike. However, with 10 laps to go, when the rubber began to wear, it became impossible to control the skid. Even on the straights and exiting turns 9 and 10, the bike was skidding. We need to find a solution, because this is not the right path and I am not satisfied with the work we are doing. »

Comparison with other Yamaha riders: “My biggest rival at the moment is Quartararo, who has the same bike as me. Fabio was faster than me this weekend, but in the first phase of the race I was closer to him than in the Sprint. However, when the rubber deteriorated, my race ended. All three Yamahas experienced the same problems, although Fabio perhaps had better contact with the rear under braking or had better settings than mine, since he has been on the bike longer. Anyway, I don’t want to make excuses: he was just faster than Gardner and I. »

The new engine: “We are not going to introduce the V4 engine in the last races. If all goes well, we might have it by the middle of next season, but we need something before that. »

The solution in electronics? ” I don’t know. We cannot find what we are missing. »

No fuel consumption problem: “No, I only saved one lap, pulling the clutch on the straight to conserve some fuel. »
