The Spaniard won at the end of the race and took the crown with four races remaining in the season.
Among the many possible scenarios, David Alonso had to win to be sure of pocketing the title… and the Spaniard did not play the grocery store because that is exactly what he did. As usual, the CF Moto rider waited until the last laps to make his first decisive attacks.
In the lead at the start of the last lap, he even allowed himself to widen the gap slightly to reach the finish line with more than half a second ahead of Collin Veijer and Adrian Fernandez. Daniel Holgado, his main opponent for the title, failed to reach the podium in fourth position. Ivan Ortola fought for victory throughout the race, but the Spaniard crashed on the penultimate lap.
Despite their efforts, Alonso was too fast, and protégé Jorge “Aspar” Martinez clinched his first title at the age of 18 years and 164 days with a 10th victory this year.
