Two Hondas in the top 8 in a session, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen it in MotoGP. So, at home, on the Motegi track for the Japanese Grand Prix, the Japanese manufacturer must not shy away from its pleasure. Even if it was only the first session and the mixed conditions (track drying then return of rain) made reading the results very complex.

MotoGP: difficult reading of the results in EL1

In any case, it was Francesco Bagnaia who proved to be the fastest in these free practices 1, ahead of Jorge Martin and Fabio di Giannantonio. Marc Marquez is fourth and the Spanish driver is ahead of Jack Miller and Marco Bezzecchi in the order. Then come the two Hondas of Joan Mir and Johann Zarco, respectively seventh and eighth in the session. Maverick Vinalès and Enéa Bastianini complete the top ten. The first four in the general classification are therefore well present.

First part of the table from which Fabio Quartararo and Yamaha are absent. Alex Rins is positioned in fourteenth place while his French teammate is only seventeenth. At 8:00 a.m. time, the practice session will take place which will determine who will be the first ten qualified for Q2 of the 2024 MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix. And the rain could once again join the party. In the meantime, here is the full ranking.
