MotoGP, Indonesia J3, Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia/Ab) VIDEO: “I don’t blame Jack Miller, but they sanctioned Zonta in Moto2 with Masia”

The Indonesian Grand Prix turned into a nightmare for Aleix Espargaró. Involved in a pile-up on the first lap, the Aprilia rider saw his race end prematurely, after Jack Miller, who fell at turn 3, dragged him into his fall, as well as Alex Marquez and Luca Marini. Although no one was injured, Espargaró did not hide his frustration, expressing incomprehension at the lack of sanctions against Miller.

« This is not ideal. We had no luck all weekend, we never regained competitiveness. We have changed a lot on the bike. But unfortunately I couldn’t try because Jack fell and hit three riders ”, Espargaró told Manuel Pecino on motorcycle after the incident.

The panel of stewards judged the accident as a racing incident, but that was not enough to reassure the Spaniard: “ I don’t blame Jack. This can happen, especially in the first round.
But if you watch from the helicopter, Jack was completely offline. It’s always difficult to judge these situations, but in other cases, penalties are imposed
» he points out, referring to an incident in the Moto2 peloton that he regretted a few minutes earlier: “ for example, the decision on Zonta in Moto2 with Masia. They gave a penalty because Masia fell. I saw normal contact from the first corner, but it got a double long lap penalty for Japan ».

Aleix Espargaró: « it’s difficult to be positive, we’re going through a complicated moment »

Espargaro also highlighted the danger of the place where the accident occurred, a chicane where it is easy to lose control: “ it’s a very complicated place. There were many crashes there, also during the warm-up. Removing the motorcycles was not easy, and
pilots had to pass through the area twice before the debris was cleared
. »

Beyond this incident, Aleix expressed his disappointment with the performance ofApriliawho was not up to par on several circuits: “
we have problems, and not only here. It’s hard to be positive. We work, but I don’t see a solution at the moment. Even Maverick Viñales, who had a good race, was more than 10 seconds away. We are going through a complicated time. » Next weekend will be Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi. Enough to resurface and sink a little more?
