While “Kirk” rages in other parts of Germany, Hesse is enjoying an unexpected Northern Lights spectacle. The weather at the weekend remains changeable.

Offenbach — The weather was good for Hesse on Thursday (October 10th): While at the beginning of the week there was still concern that the state would be thrown into disarray by storm “Kirk” that day, the people of Hesse woke up during the night Instead, Friday was treated to a natural spectacle. Northern lights could be admired in many places, but especially in the region around Kassel. Hesse owes the colorful natural spectacle to the current strong solar activity.

In other parts of Germany, however, “Kirk” certainly raged. Bavaria was particularly affected; the police and fire brigade were deployed on numerous missions.

At the weekend the weather in Offenbach will remain rainy and cool

The people of Hesse were also able to breathe a sigh of relief when it came to the predicted risk of flooding. The Hessian State Office for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology (HLNUG) reported no major increases in water levels. This is unlikely to change in the coming days.

The end of the week brings fresh temperatures and sometimes rain for the people of Hesse. On Friday it will be mostly clear to cloudy, said the German Weather Service (DWD). It will mostly stay dry, with a slight risk of showers in the afternoon and afternoon. Temperatures range from 10 to 14 degrees. There is a slight wind.

Sunday starts with clouds and a few showers, and as the day progresses it becomes increasingly clear. According to the DWD, temperatures range from 13 to 15 degrees. A moderate to fresh wind is blowing, accompanied by strong to stormy gusts in some areas in the north of the state.

Looking ahead to Tuesday says Wetter.net-Meteorologist Schrey predicts a small change in the weather. High air pressure will spread in the coming week, which could bring a lot of sunshine.
