As part of the projects accompanying Morocco’s hosting of the 2030 World Cup, the Ministry of Equipment announced the launch of construction work on the new Rabat-Casablanca continental highway, which will run parallel to the current one on a distance of 60 kilometers.

This axis will have to directly connect the Rabat bypass, from the Tamesna interchange to the new southern ring road of Casablanca (Tit Mellil), reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia from Thursday October 10. The section will pass, among other things, near Benslimane airport and the future Grand Stade de Casablanca.

This project, whose work will be completed in 2028, will see the construction of large engineering structures planned in particular to cross 7 wadis, including those of Cherrat, Nfifikh and El Maleh. This new highway will avoid the congestion experienced by the old highway and the national road linking Rabat to Casablanca, particularly during rush hours, public holidays and weekends.

The road will be built on three lanes divided into six sections, the first of which goes from the Casablanca ring road to Oued El Maleh, while the second section extends from Wadi El Maleh to Oued Nfifikh.

The third tranche will cover the distance between Wadi Nfifikh and Wadi Ghabbar, while the fourth tranche will connect the latter to Wadi Cherrat, reports the daily.

The fifth section extends from Wadi Charrat to Wadi Ykem, while the last section of the highway will cover the distance between the latter wadi and national road no. 4022.

The new highway will constitute an essential link connecting the different urban areas located around Casablanca and Rabat, thus facilitating the traffic of people and goods, while creating new investment opportunities.
