The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved the Accra sports stadium for the match qualification of the third day of the playoffs of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) between Ghana and the Sudan.

According to a letter from the CAF addressed to the Secretary General of the Ghana Football Federation (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, the continental body approved the Accra stadium for the match scheduled for Friday October 11, 2024, following an independent inspection.

The contents of this letter state that “Following a full review of the reports of the independent inspection of CAF regarding the sports stadiums in Cape Coast and Accra, we are pleased to inform you that the Accra sports stadium was approved to accommodate playoffs of the CAN for Morocco 2025. More precisely, it will host the meeting of Group F – Day 3 between Ghana and the Sudanwhich is scheduled for October 11, 2024.”

Following the approval given to Accra sports stadiumthe CAF instructed the GFA and the stadium management team to prioritize necessary improvements to the pitch and other critical areas of the stadium before the day of match to ensure an optimal experience for both teams and fans.

The match of the Black Stars at Accra Sports Stadium will be a first in three years. The last match of the Back Stars on this stadium was against Sao Tome and Principe.

The decision of the CAF comes after it suspended the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi last month due to poor condition of the playing area. Before approval, the CAF had asked the Ghana Federation to select another venue for its next match. Last weekend, those responsible for the CAF inspected Accra and Cape Coast stadiums as potential venues for the next match des Black Stars.
