The Minister of Education renews his commitment to improving the conditions for teachers to perform their duties

The Minister of Education, Nour El-Din Al-Nouri, on Friday renewed his “commitment to taking the necessary measures to improve the conditions for teachers to perform their duties and develop their competencies by providing opportunities for participation and training and keeping up with pedagogical and cognitive developments.”

In a message addressed to all educators, on the occasion of International Teachers’ Day, which falls on October 5 of each year, he stressed “steadfast support for teachers in exchange for their effective role in raising learners.” The Minister recalled the measures approved by Tunisia aimed at raising the status of teachers and enhancing their effective role, out of the belief that they are essential actors in the educational system, pointing in particular to the issuance of the decree regulating the Supreme Council for Education, which reflects Tunisia’s aspiration to restore education to its glory, radiance, and the status it deserves at all its stages. .

The Minister also referred, in the same letter, to the Ministry’s completion of processing the contractors’ file with the aim of ending “all forms of precarious employment by adopting fair, transparent and objective standards to ensure financial and social stability and guarantee the pedagogical balance of the educator.”

It is noteworthy that the declaration of October 5, 1994, as International Teachers’ Day commemorated the signing of the joint recommendation issued by the International Labor Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1966, and this year it was established under the slogan “Valuing the Voices of Teachers.”
