In the 65th minute, Roma made a triple substitution in a 0–1 deficit against Elfsborg in the Europa League.
Among others, the Argentine world champion and five-time Italian league champion, Paulo Dybala.
There was a lot of pressure on the Elfsborg goal so Oscar Hiljemark brought in Per Frick to defend the lead.
The striker also managed – surprise – to provoke bilious fever in Dybala.
“I’m glad he was so provoked”
– It was difficult to focus on who you met. Now nobody believes it. Everyone thinks just because it was Dybala that I went in a little uglier. I was told afterwards that it was Dybala. It was a bit of fun, says Frick with a wry smile last night in the mixed zone after the 1-0 victory.
In the 86th minute, Frick waved at the Argentine’s face and Dybala reacted strongly.
In the fourth overtime minute, Frick pulled a little on Dybala’s arm. The Roma star threw himself immediately. When Dybala then stood up, he gave Frick a chest warmer and then it was Elfsborg’s Frickadona who played over.
– It’s funny now in retrospect that he was so provoked. But it wasn’t so fun to be in Borås tonight…, says Frick.
– I thought he should be used to tricks and some ugly bangs. But they are too nice in Italy.

“The materials drive us crazy”
Did you switch shirts with Dybala?
– No, I threw mine up in the Elfsborg stand. It’s better that it stays in the family.
– I don’t think they were particularly interested in our shirts. I only know that Jalal (Abdullai) got Paredes’ shirt.
– We don’t have so many shirts that we can throw them everywhere. The materials are driving us crazy. That’s the level it is – still we beat Roma.
Per Frick, who is in his 16th season at Elfsborg, values the victory against Roma very, very highly.
– The fact that we actually beat Roma will be talked about for 20 years. It is difficult to take in. It is incredibly rare to be part of this group of players who are only growing and growing in this Hiljemark era.
– It was fun to get a few minutes against Roma. I will take that with me for the rest of my life, says Frick.
