At the heart of building women’s football at the African club level are capacity building initiatives aimed at empowering club officials in women’s football, at the level of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) member associations.

The series of workshops are being held across three zonal associations during the ongoing qualifiers for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League. One zone will host the online workshop. The WAFU Zone A workshop, held in Sierra Leone from 6-7 August, was attended by 30 Participating.

The workshops are designed to provide women’s football club officials with the essential skills needed to excel in various aspects of club management. Key topics focused on include::

-General information about the structure of African football

– Club structure, governance and management of football clubs

– CAF Club Vacations

– Community interaction and communication

– Finance, Marketing and Sponsorship

– Volunteers and creating partnerships

– Contracts and player transfers

The city of Bouaké, in Côte d’Ivoire, hosted the UEFA Zone B workshop, between 15 and 16 August, with the participation of 22 officials from different clubs that participated in the UEFA Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League finals. A new era in African women’s football

The workshops are being held across the four regional federations, UNAF Zone, UNAF Zone, UNAF East and Central Africa Zone and UNAF Zone, in parallel with the zonal qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, which is a platform for clubs to compete for a place in the fourth edition of the prestigious competition..
