With her bronze medal in parataekwondo (-47 kg) at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday, August 29, Zakia Khudadadi wants to give strength “to Afghan girls and women” and to “all the refugee women in the world”she told Radio France’s Sports Directorate. It was “the objective” of the Afghan para-athlete, competing for the refugee team, since her arrival in France in 2021.

“I come from a very tough country”says Zakia Khudadadi, who fled Afghanistan after the Taliban took over Kabul. She wins the first medal in the history of the refugee team at the Paralympic Games. “It’s great, it’s a dream”she smiled.
