Since March, Brice and Elodie have opened their physical store “La Bricecuiterie d'Elodie”. A colorful universe with original savory and sweet recipes in a wooden house that is a hit.
Very close to the town center of Saint-Martin-de-Valgégales nestles “La Bricecuiterie d'Elodie”. After opening their physical store last March, the couple's professional activity was recently rewarded with the obtaining of two medals in the Gard Gourmand 2024 competition (one in gold and one in bronze). A real Christmas surprise for them: “It’s a personal satisfaction because it’s a lot of work, hours and hours. And we say to ourselves: Maybe what we do, ultimately, we don’t do it for nothing”comments Elodie.
The result of hard work which first began with the opening of the online store, and their occasional appearance on markets. In summer, products are exposed to heat, which is not ideal for their conservation, even when it is too cold or humid. “We did very few markets between the seasons which are most suitable. And people told us: It’s a shame, you don’t have a store where we can see your entire range of products”reveals Elodie.
Hence this crucial need to have a physical point, which was finally established not far from the manufacturing workshops, themselves close to their living space. This system allows them to reduce their transport costs as much as possible and to be much freer for customers: “We have opening hours, but people can also call us and we open the store to them on request for their purchases”explains the co-manager. But above all, it allows them to be much more available for their children.
An intimate, very quiet and nicely decorated place where their many diverse products are displayed to customers. “We are passionate, so we love people to the end. We are here and invested in them. We want people to leave here with only good things in their heads. In addition, given the current events, It doesn't hurt them.”. A small parking lot nearby allows easier access by car.
Biscuits, chocolates, aperitif products…
Gluttony has two faces at Bricecuiterie d'Elodie. It can be sweet or salty. Between nougats, lace nougats, chocolates, flower preserves, meringues, traditional or flower biscuits or even cookies… happiness is just within reach. For aperitifs and convivial moments, the couple has developed a range of biscuits “who works very hard”as they tell us.
“We chose to keep a portion of sugar, because some people don't put it in the biscuits, but I still preferred to use organic coconut sugar, since it is well assimilated by diabetics. My father is diabetic and I had four gestational diabetes cases”explains Elodie. A range of gluten-free products is also on sale, after numerous requests made to the couple. Above all, Elodie and Brice want to work with as many local products as possible. “We work a lot with the Miellerie de Rousson, which was also a medalist in the Gard Gourmand competition. We only use its honey from elsewhere to make our nougat, our honey biscuits…”explains Elodie.
Brice is a professional pastry chef, chocolate maker, ice cream maker and confectioner: “I worked for 15 years in a very well-known confectionery on the Côte d'Azur”, he reveals. It was after a job offer in the Gard department for Brice and the desire to become an owner that they decided to settle in Saint-Martin-de-Valgégales. Elodie also fell into the pot: “I have a family that works in the pastry business, so I have always been immersed in a culinary space and I met my husband in a pastry shop”she smiled.
Original creations
Special feature of La Bricecuiterie d'Elodie: the production of personalized biscuits for all occasions. “My wife makes cookies with themes such as for Christmas, for birthdays or even weddings, where we have replaced the sugared almonds in boxes. Our customers can choose the taste and the color”specifies Brice.
What works best? The chestnut biscuit, something they sometimes sell at the minute. Marshmallows, Breton palates (with 84% butter), nougatine and aperitif biscuits are also in high demand. All you have to do is go taste it, and do some last holiday shopping to have one of their products on your table.
