Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 8K and Play HDMI sync box 4K devices are currently receiving firmware version 2.4.2. The latest model, released at the start of the year, benefits from three changes via the update. These include a new setting and various signal-related bug fixes.
An update has arrived for the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 8K and the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 4K. Firmware version 2.4.2 is the first update for the 8K model, which launched in October.
The update changelog shows three changes for the Play HDMI sync box 8K. There's a new ARC bypass mode, which can be turned on or off in the accompanying app. This allows you to use Music mode for a range of different setups. Version 2.4.2 also guarantees signal stability, regardless of the state of the sync box. Additionally, it fixes an issue that sometimes occurs with 120Hz HDMI signals.
For the Philips Hue Play 4K HDMI Sync Box, these are just “general bug fixes and improvements.” The last update for this model dates back to April, with the arrival of a fix for the passthrough mode of Vizio M7 televisions. Firmware version 2.4.2 should be sent automatically to the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 8K and the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box 4K (currently $247.75 at Amazon). To check if you have automatic updates enabled, go to the Philips Hue app > Settings > Software update.
