The Basque Eneko Iparragirre becomes the new sports director of the Caja Rural-Alea Branch. He succeeds Aritz Bagües, who will devote himself fully to the professional team from next season. Iparragirre, despite his young age, has already accumulated valuable experience, thanks to his solid academic background and his career in Cycling.
A versatile profile
A graduate in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFyD), he also obtained masters degrees in High Performance in Cycling Sports and in teaching. From 2019 to 2024, he served as coach of the Euskadi team in XCO and road, while supervising the preparation of national and international athletes in different cycling disciplines. With this first experience at the head of an elite and sub-23 team, Iparragirre arrives with a clear objective: to transmit his knowledge and contribute to the training of future professionals.
In an interview, Iparragirre shares his vision and motivations:
« Working with the best national cyclists to prepare them for the professional category is extremely motivating. The subsidiary has proven its success in training many talents over the years, and integrating this structure is a big challenge for me.
The work of the subsidiaries is essential. Although some junior riders go straight to professional, many need time to adapt. The subsidiary plays a key role in strengthening the foundations, while respecting the development and rhythm of each cyclist.
I want to give them tools to achieve their goals, both short and long term. Transmitting the team’s philosophy will be essential, as will supporting each rider in their personal and sporting development.
To be the reference team in the category and continue to prepare cyclists so that they progress to the professional level in good conditions. I also aim to match or exceed last season’s victories, while shining in the big races, especially those at home.«
A promising future
With the arrival of Eneko Iparragirre, Filial Caja Rural-Alea relies on a modern and ambitious vision to continue training the talents of tomorrow. An important step for this young technician, and a promise of continuity of excellence for the team.
