Pass receiver Tyson Philpot must resign himself to the fact that he will not soon wear the same uniform as his twin brother.

On Friday, the Calgary Stampeders announced that they had agreed to terms with Jalen Philot on a two-year contract extension.

The one who also works as a receiver could have become a free agent on February 11. He preferred to stay with the organization that selected him in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2022 draft.

During the end of season review of the Alouettes players, Tyson did not hide his desire to see his brother join him in Montreal, emphasizing in passing that he had already spoken about this possibility with general manager Danny Maciocia.

“It’s a decision that my brother will have to make,” he said. Two Philpots are better than one.”

Better luck next time

Asked about this during his own assessment of the last season, Maciocia indicated that he was very aware of the possibility of Jalen becoming free as the air.

“The last time I saw the two together on the field was at the Vanier Cup and they weren't that bad,” said the man who was the head coach of the Carabins of the University of Montreal at the time.

“Jalen is quite a talent. I know he could become a free agent and that's all I can say.”

The Twins' stats in the CFL:

Jalen Philpot: 32 games played | 89 caught | 976 yards | 6 touchdowns
