Samsung continues to roll out its latest security patch to its Galaxy devices. After updating its recent flagships like the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6 and the S24 series, the Korean giant is now extending the December 2024 update to the Galaxy S23, S21 series and the Galaxy A54.
This monthly update mainly focuses on fixing bugs and vulnerabilities, as Samsung is currently working on the development of One UI 7. Users will need to wait until the beginning of next year to discover new features with the deployment of One UI 7.
For the Galaxy S23 series, the update carries build number S91xBXXS7CXK6 for the standard, Plus, and Ultra models, while the S23 FE gets build number S711BXXS6DXK8. The Galaxy S21 series is assigned the build number G99xUSQSEGXK3. The build number for the Galaxy A54 has not yet been announced.

What’s new for the December update at Samsung?
The security patch addresses no less than 45 vulnerabilities affecting One UI, Android and Exynos chips. Google helped fix 28 “high” severity and six “critical” severity flaws in the Android core. Samsung Mobile has, for its part, fixed eight vulnerabilities specific to One UI, notably linked to the ThemeCenter, Dex functionalities and the Bluetooth connectivity of the Galaxy Watch. Two additional fixes address vulnerabilities specific to Exynos processors.
Users can check for update availability by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. The deployment is taking place gradually depending on the region, some users will therefore have to wait a few days before receiving the notification.
This update is particularly important for the security of Galaxy devices, even if it does not bring new features. Users are encouraged to install it as soon as it becomes available to benefit from the latest protection against discovered vulnerabilities. As usual, we remind you that it is better to keep your smartphone up to date to avoid having your smartphone hacked. As a reminder, Samsung sometimes takes a while to correct critical vulnerabilities.
