Antonio Maurogiovanni is the new director of the French rowing teams for the 2024-2028 Olympics. He is notably responsible for breathing new life after the zero points of the Paris 2024 Games.
A zero point that hurt. Very bad even. Brilliant in Tokyo, the French rowing team failed to validate this positive dynamic in Paris. During the Olympic Games, the discipline recorded a sad zero score in the Vaires-sur-Marne basin. An assessment which pushed the French Rowing Federation to react, as the 2024-2028 Olympiad opens.
With the Los Angeles Games in its sights, the federation has chosen to trust Antonio Maurogiovanni as the new director of the French teams. The 59-year-old Italian technician will finalize the overall organization of the French and high-performance teams alongside the technical executives of the French Rowing Federation.

With the Italian, the French Rowing Federation has chosen the experience. Former high-level athlete, Antonio Maurogiovanni was notably coach of Australia, leading the Australian coxless four to the final of the Athens Games in 2004. From 2008 to 2012, he joined the management of the Dutch team rowing. In 2017, he became performance director of the Irish rowing team and notably supported the establishment of a national training center. Under his leadership, Ireland shines, winning two medals, including an Olympic title, in Tokyo in 2020, and repeating this feat in Paris in 2024. From now on, it is with the Blues that he intends to perpetuate this victorious dynamic.
