The 45-year-old woman who showed signs of violence and who was found lifeless in her home in Charlesbourg was the victim of a homicide, authorities confirm.

It was around 9:15 a.m. Monday that the police were called to go to the home on Boulevard Louis-XIV to assist the ambulance crews.

It was the coroner who requested that an inquest be held. The event, initially considered suspicious, was ultimately classified as a homicide.

“Investigators as well as technicians from the Judicial Identification Unit went to the scene to shed light on this death,” said Laurence Godbout, spokesperson for the Quebec City Police Department ( SPVQ).

A mobile command post was deployed around 9 a.m., at the corner of rue Astrid and rue Édith, to allow citizens who had information about this suspicious death to meet investigators.

Consternation

In the building neighboring the one where the victim was found, there is consternation among the tenants. It is difficult to understand what could have happened, even though it is said that the area is usually particularly quiet.

“All that’s going on here is the horns on the boulevard because of the traffic. We have never seen something so serious,” laments Julie Valcourt, a neighbor.

As the police are sparing with details in this case at the moment, many are worried for their own safety, hoping to have answers quickly.

“It’s definitely stressful, I have a little baby. It’s not reassuring to know that a story like this happened right next door,” says Jean Rolland, another neighbor.

This is the third homicide to occur in Quebec since the start of the year. A 14-month-old toddler and Jordan Lumbala, a 30-year-old man, were the other victims.
