The fire started around 4 a.m. this Wednesday, December 18. Several buildings located near the Pol Roger house, rue Roger Sondag, in Aÿ Champagne caught fire. On an area of 200 square meters. The firefighters arrived quickly on site in a narrow and old sector of this wine-growing commune in Champagne. In total, around twenty people were inconvenienced by the smoke, a firefighter is in relative emergency.
Around sixty firefighters were still on site at 8 a.m. Those supported are welcomed in a restaurant, Avarum, located not far from the scene of the fire. Traffic is blocked in the area. According to our colleagues from Champagne FM, two residents are missing.
“We welcomed around twenty people, street residents, confirms the street restaurant owner. Considering the means, this is a big intervention. The fire started in the Pol Roger house. There are those in charge of the house in our house. The baker arrived to bring them breakfast and comfort them.”.
