A Concordia University professor and public figure followed by nearly 700,000 Twitter followers said during his appearance on one of the most listened to podcasts in the world, that “Quebec French is an affront to human dignity”.
After throwing flowers at the Italian and French of our cousins in France at Joe Rogan’s podcast published six days ago on YouTube, the author and teacher, Gad Saad, tackled the Quebec accent by knowing full well that he was going to “upset” them.
The professor’s opinion quickly created discord on Twitter with several users who compared this remark to a form of “anti-Quebec racism”.

The MP for Longueuil-Saint-Hubert for the Bloc Québécois and spokesperson for the French language, Denis Trudel, denounced on his account that “anti-Quebec racism is the only acceptable racism in Canada!”
The author of the book La ‘sad’ truth about happiness: 8 secrets to having a great life (The Saad Truth about Happiness: 8 Secrets for Leading the Good Life), Gad Saad, continued to share reactions to the controversy on his Twitter account.
“Bingo” replied Mr. Saad to a user who claimed it was “Pseudo-controversial ridiculousness. When I think of all the problems in Quebec, the idea of denying that the Quebec accent is quite deplorable seems to me the most ridiculous of worries. I’m from Quebec and I don’t like the Quebec accent. “So what?” I am still proud to be from Quebec.”
“Oh Look. A self-confident person who knows how to appreciate a joke” noted the author in the face of the reaction of another user who calls for calm.
“The Joe Rogan Experience” has over 3 billion views on YouTube and 15 million subscribers.
The video, published in two excerpts, on YouTube already has half a million views on the platform.
It is not surprising that his remarks will continue to make the rounds of the web in the coming days.
