Emmanuel Macron will travel this Thursday July 6 to the Pyrenees to meet the elected officials of , including the mayor François Bayrou who is one of his main allies, and attend a stage of the Tour de as every year, the presidency announced on Wednesday 5 .

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the head of state will first have an interview with the president of the MoDem over breakfast, then an extended meeting with elected officials from the town and agglomeration of Pau.

According to his entourage, these exchanges will be in “the extension” of those of Tuesday with some 300 mayors gathered at the Elysee Palace about the responses to be provided after the riots which set France ablaze last week.

The president will then go to the Hautes-Pyrénées on the occasion of the sixth stage of the Tour de France, between and Cauterets-Cambasque, and its two legendary passes of the Grande Boucle cyclist: the Tourmalet and the Aspin.

This is one of Emmanuel’s favorite stages Macronwho has been on the Tour almost every year since being first elected in 2017.

According to the Elysée, he intends to “greet the runners, the organizers and all the public services mobilized to allow this major event of our sporting and cultural heritage to take place”. As usual, he will get into the vehicle of the competition director, Christian Prudhomme, to follow the circuit, before attending the presentation of the jerseys.
