Walid Sadi officially loses a battle against Morocco

Algeria Foot
– The headquarters of the African Club Association (ACA) will be officially established in Morocco. This decision, announced by Hersi Said, president of the ACA, confirms speculation in recent weeks. During the signing of the agreement with the Royal Moroccan Federation (FRMF), Hersi Said said: “We are proud to sign this agreement with the FRMF so that the ACA siege is here. It is a great success that strengthens the position of Morocco on the continent. This is a defeat for Sadi, president of the FAF and Minister of Sports.

This announcement puts an end to a silent but fierce competition between several African countries, including Algeria, which wanted to welcome this strategic seat. Algiers had indeed been envisaged as a serious alternative, especially since Hersi Said had made an official visit to the Algerian capital.

A backhand for Algeria

For Algeria and its president of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Walid Sadi, this decision marks a symbolic defeat in the quest for influence on African football. Welcoming the ACA headquarters would have enabled Algeria to strengthen its role in the management and development of football on the continent. However, Morocco, thanks to its many modern infrastructure and its active diplomatic network, has convinced the ACA to set up its headquarters in Rabat.

This decision also illustrates a broader dynamic in which Morocco has established itself as an essential player in African football, to the detriment of other candidate nations. For Walid Sadi, this reverse constitutes a call for a broader strategic reflection on the way in which Algeria can strengthen its influence in continental authorities.

Growing competition in Africa

The battle for the ACA’s headquarters reflects a larger competition between African countries seeking to establish their role in major sports organizations. While football continues to develop on the continent, decisions related to the seats of organizations such as ACA become highly symbolic and strategic issues.

Despite this defeat, Algeria could consider other ambitious projects as part of its sport development strategy, while Morocco consolidates its position by welcoming the ACA headquarters. The latter could become a major hub for discussions and initiatives related to African football in the years to come.
