Today the biathlon sprint took place in Antholz-Anterselva. As a reminder, only two shots are on the program, one lying down and one standing. But whatever the type of course, Lou Jeanmonnot is determined to play tricks on us in this year 2025.
Lou Jeanmonnot causes great harm to French biathlon
The Antholz-Anterselva site will host the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. Reason why the performance of the French women today was going to be more scrutinized than ever, in order to have a taste for the next Olympics. And it must be said that we would have preferred not to watch the race. At the end of the first shot, three French women already occupied the first three places: Lou Jeanmonnot, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Julia Simon. We have had more comforting experiences, especially when Jeanne Richard slaps a 10/10 just behind.
Like Jeanne Richard, Lou Jeanmonnot also scores 10/10. Except that unlike her compatriot, the latter translated it into victory, her fifth of the season, just ahead of the Germans Selina Grotian and Franziska Preuss. Lou inflicts a second Marseillaise on us in the space of just a week, our patience has its limits.
-Yet behind, the French contingent had done the job. Forget the filthy victory of Jeanmonnot, make way for the raid of places of honor by Julia Simon (5th), Jeanne Richard (6th) and Océane Michelon (7th). We prefer to see it from this angle, rather than saying that there are four French women in the top 10. Who knows why? Better yet, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, although among the leaders at mid-race, finished with the 16th time. And what about Paula Botet, solid 25th with her no less solid 7/10 behind the rifle? Despite the Jeanmonnot failure, we have many reasons for hope.
