Laura Müller, first female track engineer in alongside Esteban Ocon for 2025

The history of Formula 1 is about to reach a new milestone with the appointment of Laura Müller as track engineer at Haas Team. This talented German will accompany Esteban Ocon during the 2025 season, becoming the first woman to occupy this strategic position in the motorsport elite.

A historic appointment in the paddock

The American Haas F1 team has just made its mark by announcing the promotion of Laura Müller to the position of track engineer. This automotive engineer, originally from Munich, will be responsible for supporting French driver Esteban Ocon throughout the 2025 season. A female voice will now resonate in the drivers' earpieces, a first in the history of the discipline.

A key role within the team

The track engineer represents the vital link between the driver and his team during races. Laura Müller will work closely with Francesco Nenci, the Chief Engineer, to optimize the performance of the Haas VF-25. Its mission will go far beyond the simple relay of technical information – it will also have to play a role of psychological support, maintaining the pilot's motivation in difficult times.

An exemplary journey

Arriving at Haas in 2022, Laura Müller rose through the ranks starting with the simulator before becoming a performance engineer. A declared fan of Michael Schumacher, she was able to impress with her technical skills and determination. Team principal Ayao Komatsu didn't hide his enthusiasm: 'His work ethic and technical understanding make him the ideal person to collaborate with Esteban.'.

A team in full transformation

This appointment is part of a series of major changes at Haas. The team also welcomes Ollie Bearman alongside Ocon to form a promising duo. The American structure is also strengthening its strategic department with the arrival of Carine Cridelich, formerly with Racing Buss.

Ambitions revised upwards

After a seventh place in the constructors' championship in 2024, Haas is aiming higher. The technical partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing brings new life to the team. The first tests between Laura Müller and Esteban Ocon took place on the Jerez circuit with a 2023 single-seater, allowing them to establish their first working bases.

This historic appointment illustrates the gradual evolution of F1 towards more diversity, even if as Komatsu points out: 'We didn't choose Laura for her gender, but for her skills and ability to maximize the team's performance.'.
