Pushed towards the exit last summer, Nampalys Mendy is no longer part of RC Lens' plans, both for sporting and economic reasons. And six months before the end of his lease with the Sang et Or, the midfielder has concrete exit doors.
RC Lens seeks to part with it
Eager to downsize and rebalance its workforce, RC Lens would like to shed a few elements at the heart of the game. In addition to David Pereira Da Costa, for whom an offer has arrived on the desk of the Lens leaders, Namaplys Mendy is also one of the candidates for a departure by February 3, the date the transfer market closes. And according to information from RMC Sport, the Senegalese international has his suitors.
Concretely, two Ligue 1 clubs and a foreign team are in the running to secure the services of Nampalys Mendy. In France, the name of Saint-Etienne has already been mentioned during the fall. However, any potential buyer will have to take into account the player's salary, which has become too important for RC Lens. The question of a potential transfer fee also arises.
Unless the player and the club find an agreement for an early termination of the contract which currently runs until next June.
