Chemical submission: so that shame changes sides. This is the name of the exceptional documentary broadcast tomorrow evening on France 2 in prime time. It will be followed from 10:40 p.m. by a debate entitled “QWhat to do after the Mazan trial ?» hosted by Carole Gaessler. The journalist was the guest of “Buzz TV” this Monday.
This continuing evening comes a month after the verdict in the Mazan trial was delivered on December 19. However, judgment will not be at the heart of the matter. “We are dealing with this phenomenon of chemical submission. And I say phenomenon because I myself discovered that it was a social phenomenon. […] What we discover is that chemical submission is a modus operandi of rapists. I knew there was this risk of GHB, but in fact it only represents 5% of the chemical submission. In fact, drugging someone without their knowledge to abuse them involves, in more than half of the cases, medications found in our medicine cabinets.explains Carole Gaessler for whom it is essential to carry out real awareness-raising action.

“Chemical submission”, the documentary on Gisèle Pelicot on January 21 on France 2
This documentary, written by Linda Bendali and Andrea Rawlins-Gaston, has another strong point: a special narrator in the person of Caroline Darian, the daughter of Gisèle and Dominique Pelicot. “Two years ago she wrote a book When I stopped calling you dad which was a saving grace for her. She needed this book, as she also needed this documentary to give voice to other victims. This documentary does not revisit the Pelicot trial. It's giving voice to other people who have experienced chemical submission who are of all ages. The facts are recent or the facts are old. They live in Paris, Brest or Niort”declares the journalist, wishing to remind people that this is a reality that affects more than we think.
Behind these chemical submission rapes there is also ordinary sexism. “It is on small phrases, which did not revolt us at first because we have become accustomed to it, that we must react to prevent this state of mind from taking hold”protests Carole Gaessler. Will be present on the debate stage, in the second part of the evening, the MP Sandrine Josso, Caroline Darian, Leila Chaouachi, “a specialist pharmacist who has been working on these issues for twenty years», but also Léa, a victim, a lawyer dealing with sexual matters and finally Maxime Ruszniewski, on gender equality.
