The Prime Minister of Palestine, Mohammed Mustafa, had a telephone exchange yesterday with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita. The talks focused on “the latest developments in Palestine, the progress of the ceasefire in Gaza and the necessary efforts for emergency humanitarian aid,” indicates the Palestinian Prime Minister on the X platform.

The head of government “expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan king, government and people for their unwavering support for Palestine,” adds the same source. Mustafa also “welcomed Morocco’s unwavering position on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to end the occupation, obtain freedom, independence and the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

After the truce came into force in Gaza, the Islamist movement Hamas did not thank Morocco for its solidarity with the Palestinian population. For Rabat, the Palestinian Authority remains the only interlocutor, despite the interlude of visits to Morocco, under the government of Saad-Eddine El Othmani, by Hamas officials, notably Khaled Mechaal and Ismail Haniyeh. This is evidenced by the numerous messages from King Mohammed VI addressed to President Mahmoud Abbas and the trips to Morocco by ministers of the Palestinian executive.
