A walker discovered a human skull on a beach in Gironde Sunday January 12, 2025 revealed our colleagues from Figaro.
The man was walking in a fairly isolated area when he saw the human remains placed in the dunes of the commune of Porge around 4:30 p.m. He immediately called the police.
According to the first elements, no another bone would not be found on the beach. The skull, probably of an adult, was too far away to have been brought back by the waves.
-An open investigation
The Gironde gendarmerie has opened an investigation in order to determine the circumstances of death. First, the skull is studied by the Bordeaux forensic institute to find the identity of the victim.
Last July, human bones had been found about ten kilometers to the north, on Lion beach in Lacanau. While it might be tempting to make a link between the two cases, it is still far too early to defend this hypothesis.
