Belgian champion with Anderlecht, he could have returned to action at Lotto Park this summer: “I hesitated but I’m happy not to have done it” – Tout le football

Frank Boeckx currently works as an analyst. However, he could just as easily have returned as goalkeeping coach at Anderlecht.

In 2023, Frank Boeckx has decided to stop as goalkeeping coach. He had started working in the junior staff under Robin Veldman and followed him to the first team when Felice Mazzu left. He then continued to train the purple guardians under the orders of Brian Riemer until the end of the season.

He now feels particularly good in his new role as analyst. “I’m always on the move a lot at the weekend. But during the week, I’m often at home,” he confides to Nieuwsblad. “I can take the kids to school. Or take care of them if they’re sick. I made homemade chicken soup yesterday. Plus, I have a wife who’s also ambitious.”

Back one day, but when?

However, he misses field work; being an analyst compensates for part of the lack but cannot give him the same sensations: “The chances that I will come back one day seem plausible to me,” he admits. “Coaching is my passion.”

This year, he could even have already returned to service in the staff ofAnderlecht. “To be honest: I hesitated. But in the end I didn’t take the plunge and I’m happy because I would only have done what I had promised (staying with my family more often) for a year “.

He does not regret his decision. Especially considering what would have happened: “Either I would have been fired with Brian Riemer, or I would have been asked to fill in, and I wasn’t considering either option.”
