Elusive Serge Gainsbourg. It's been more than 30 years since the French singer left us and still today, he intrigues. Some adore him, adore him, some hate him, don't understand him. A polymorphous artist, he has merged musical genres, from jazz to reggae via rock and French song, while imposing a poetic and provocative style. Stéphane Varupenne and Sébastien Pouderouxboth members of the Comédie-Française, are musicians in the city as well as on stage and they have often used their talent on the French stage. Already in 2017, Sébastien Pouderoux embodied the music of Bob Dylan in a very successful production that he co-signed with Marie Remond, according to the book by Greil Marcus, Like a stone that…. In 2019, he joined forces with Stéphane Varupennedrummer and bassist, to compose Les Serge (Gainsbourg Point Barre) a piece around the figure of Serge Gainsbourg, which is similar to a declaration of love. Performed for the first time at the Studio de la Comédie-Française, the play returns there at the start of 2025.

Serge Gainsbourg also influenced fashion and cinema, thanks to his rebellious and avant-garde spirit. His lyrics, often imbued with eroticism and subtle wordplay, have redefined the limits of song. On stage, the talented actors of the Comédie-Française (including Benjamin Lavernhe currently showing in cinemas in A Fanfare) make you relive the Gainsbourg years.
