A breeder located in Ponthoile, in maritime Picardy, is being prosecuted for several facts noted between 2019 and 2021 by theFrench Biodiversity Office (OFB), irregular exploitation of establishments keeping non-domestic animals, mistreatment or even elimination in irregular conditions of animal by-products.

The association One Voice which leads battles to defend the interests of animals and nature has filed a civil suit, as has the association for the protection of wild animals (ASPAS).

According to One Voice: “the owner of the establishment, who sold these animals to hunters, flouted the regulations and increased mistreatment throughout this time. »

The association deplores: “the breeder also inflicted the worst abuse on the birds he kept, amputating several phalanges of their wings in order to prevent them from flying and even though jointing is prohibited. Nailed to the ground, some of the geese and ducks mutilated by his care are sometimes dead, overcome by suffering, abandoned on the ground.

And to denounce: “he got rid of the bodies by throwing them directly into the household trash… or in a park to evade controls. »

Still according to One Voice, the breeder would have “kept 3,011 birds locked up instead of the 1,300 granted. Some of them were species he shouldn't even have. »

The association indicates that it wants to “carry the voice of the aquatic birds victims of this unscrupulous operator” by being present at the hearing this Thursday, January 16.
