We know more about the evolution of the number of self-employed health professionals thanks to Health Insurance. The latter revealed the figures concerning different practitioners in the department. This is the case for surgeons, who decide which operations to carry out. After explaining their choice to patients, they install prostheses, remove tumors or correct malformations. In the Somme, there were 48 private surgeons in 2010. Their number increased, and there were 74 in the territory in 2023.
