The president of the Occitanie Region, Carole Delga, is boycotting the official visit to Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, this Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Carole Delga learned the day before from the Minister of the Economy, Eric Lombard, that the commitment to setting up a “Mobility Payment (VM)” for the Regions was being called into question by the Bayrou government. This financing mechanism was to be allocated to the regions for the first time. Until now, only intermunicipalities benefited from it, with the exception of the Ile-de-France region.
A decision made”without consultation“that she esteems”contrary to all the work carried out since the fall as part of the 2025 Finance Bill (PLF), which was validated in December by the Senate. However, it is the application of what already exists for transport in the Ile-de-France region.“, writes the socialist.
The president of the regions of France castigates a “decision without consultation“, a “impasse“, and a “major setback for the future of carbon-free mobility“. The mobility payment is a compulsory financial contribution for employers, intended to finance local public transport. It is due by any company which employs at least 11 employees in Île-de-France or in a municipality which has established this payment.
She believes that this decision is a blow to “the creation of new rail services, the purchase of train sets or the development of our infrastructure, for the construction of metropolitan RERs. “
Projects that require funding of several million euros. The envelope planned via the implementation of the mobility payment for Occitanie represented between 40 and 50 million euros.
While the finance bill presented by the Barnier government mentioned a 200 million euro hit for the community she presides over, Carole Delga calls on the Bayrou government to reverse its decision.
