A skier suffered a heart attack on a chairlift last Monday around noon in Auron. The drama unfolded on the Butières chairlift, in the Demandols sector. This 68-year-old Varois could not be resuscitated.
“Arriving at the top of the chairlift, he was immediately taken care of by the rescue skiers, explains Jean-Christophe Desens, general director of Nice Côte d'Azur resorts. They took the first emergency actions. It lasted a long time. The doctor was called to the scene.”
Firefighters intervened with the civil security helicopter. The victim died despite the efforts of rescuers.
The announcement of this tragedy shocked Christine, in her sixties, who had come skiing with two friends. This Cannes resident says she was stuck on the chairlift for an hour. “We called the gendarmerie. We were informed that it was closed while waiting for a helicopter to evacuate a person”. A few hours later, the cold felt was quickly eclipsed, when Christine learned of the fatal outcome.
