URGENT: Camair-Co chaos – GECAM pulls out its claws ✈️

In a scathing letter, Célestin Tawamba, the president of the Groupement des Entreprises du Cameroun (GECAM), has just highlighted the descent into hell of Camair-Co. The boss of bosses denounces “slow but gradual degradation” services which paralyzes the country’s economic activity.

Air service on the brink of collapse

The revelations are overwhelming: cascading cancellations, chronic delays, and even schedule changes without notice. This catastrophic situation causes considerable losses for Cameroonian companies:

  • Contractual penalties
  • Unexpected reorganization costs
  • Terminations of commercial partnerships
  • Disastrous impact on cash flow

The final blow comes from the prices charged by the national company. Tawamba denounces “increasingly prohibitive” prices which are suffocating both businesses and Cameroonian households. This aggressive pricing policy, in the midst of an economic crisis, raises questions about Camair-Co’s commercial strategy.

GECAM’s intervention, although diplomatic in form, reveals the exasperation of the private sector in the face of a national company which seems to have lost its way. This situation could have serious repercussions on the economic attractiveness of Cameroon and its ability to attract investors.

Tawamba offers a constructive approach:

  • Urgent improvement in timetable management
  • Transparent communication with users
  • Review of pricing policy
  • Dialogue for sustainable solutions

This crisis comes at a time when domestic air transport is crucial for the economic development of the regions. The response from Camair-Co management is anxiously awaited by the entire business community.
