The organizer of the Barkley will be in the Gard department at the end of the month for the first edition of the Infinity Trail Pont du Gard.
Is this proof that the French have entered Laz's heart? The organizers of the Infinity Trail circuit announced this Wednesday the presence of Lazarus Lake, aka “Laz” on their race near Pont du Gard. The creator of the legendary Barkley, but also of the Backyard Ultra, from which the Infinity Trail is inspired, will be on site on January 31.
More than 200 people are expected for the first edition of the race on the Roman aqueduct, an emblematic world heritage site in the department. On the program for them, a 6.7 km loop to be completed in less than sixty minutes, every hour, until only one runner remains in the running.
The favorites of the Infinity Trail Pont du Gard
Among the men, Benjamin Rascalou, author of 60 loops (402 kilometers) during the last Bayard Ultra world championship in teams in November 2024, is the favorite. But he will be faced with renowned challengers like Pierre Aubery (52 loops), Sébastien Ohl (50 loops) or Kewin Chevreau, winner of the Infinity Trail in Camaret-sur-Mer with 33 loops (221 km).
For women, Claire Dias (25 loops) and Véronique Delon (21 loops) will lead the competition, with outsiders like Fanny Castellani (best UTMB index) and Géraldine Favrat ready to upset the predictions.
