Kaolack, Jan 13 (APS) – The ninth edition of the Kaolack International Fair (FIKA), scheduled from January 23 to February 9, 2025, will be held on the theme “The integration of digital in sectors of the economy: issues and perspectives,” the APS learned from the organizers on Monday during a regional development committee.
Presented as a major economic event in the Kaolack region (center), FIKA brings together, each year, national and international players around commercial opportunities and innovations.
The 2025 edition will explore how digital can transform key sectors such as agriculture, commerce, industry, education and many other areas of activity, organizers inform.
It will be structured around a rich and varied program, including exhibitions of local products, technological innovations in crafts and other innovative services. It will see the participation of more than 350,000 visitors and 800 exhibitors from 25 countries coming from various sectors, it is indicated.
The regional development committee (CRD) was held under the chairmanship of the governor of the Kaolack region, Mohamadou Moctar Watt. The aim was to discuss the arrangements made for the smooth running of this fair of which Pakistan is the ‘guest of honour’ country.
According to the first deputy mayor of the commune of Kaolack, Ndiaya Mbow, FIKA is an “extraordinary showcase” for the Kaolack region.
”Although this edition will focus on digital and its impact on the economy, we will strongly debate the Senegal 2050 framework, in particular the agenda for transforming public policies,” explained the sales and marketing manager of the fair.
-She added that FIKA will not only be a trade fair but also a festive and cultural event through a series of special events.
Forums, workshops and other thematic conferences will be organized to explore the challenges and opportunities linked to digital adaptation. These sessions will allow participants to discover innovative solutions to improve the productivity and competitiveness of their businesses.
A day will be dedicated to women active in entrepreneurship, through the organization of a women’s empowerment forum, said Ndiaya Mbow, member of the organizing committee for this activity.
The governor of Kaolack, Mohamadou Moctar Watt, affirms that beyond its territorial marketing role, this fair is an opportunity for all economic operators in the region.
The administrative authority placed great emphasis on safety, sanitation, risk prevention and the fluidity of traffic around the Kaolack “heart of the city” complex, which houses the fair.
