President Bassirou Diomaye Faye received, this Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Palace of the Republic, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, president of the transition in Sudan, as part of a courtesy visit.
This meeting made it possible, according to a press release from the Presidency, to discuss the worrying political and security situation in Sudan, where armed conflicts between factions threaten peace and stability. The same source reports that President Diomaye Faye welcomed this approach, reflecting the strong ties between Dakar and Khartoum.
“Concerned by the ordeals experienced by the Sudanese people, the Head of State renewed Senegal’s commitment to peace and stability in the region. He called on all stakeholders to dialogue and consultation, the only path for a lasting return to peace in Sudan,” underlines the Presidency.
