On this first Sunday of 2025, there were as many people in Parlan as ever to attend the traditional greeting ceremony of Mayor Michel Teyssedou and the Parlan municipal council. The councilor first took the opportunity to return to the highlights of the past year.

Looking back at 2024

The town has renovated the Toyre house to make it a local business and two apartments. The newly renovated football field has received approval from the football federation category 4which means that it can host matches of French Cup.

The treatment plant was put to standards with the support of the Acdeau design firm. The old lagoon was replaced by reed filters for an amount of 44 000 € excluding subsidies; an investment which allows you not to be subject to penalties from the water agency.

In May 2024, the French championship dog obedience training was organized in the town by the southern kennel club despite difficult weather conditions.

In December, the first Christmas market de Parlan organized by Françoise Estival received a favorable reception. These events were possible thanks to the action of volunteers that Michel Teyssedou wanted to highlight: “Volunteers are oxygen values who make up society.”

Projects for 2025

The municipality will open the first Maternal Assistance Home (MAM) de la Châtaigneraie, a project led by Élodie Warluzel and Katarzyna Neu in premises made available and renovated by the community of municipalities. Michel Teyssedou insists on the importance of this structure: “When we have 11 new children at school, it is very important to have a structure like this to be able to welcome them.”

The multiple rural hosting a restaurant room, a tobacco bar and a grocery store will be renovated for an investment of €100,000: the roof will be waterproofed, a second dining room will be fitted out and the bar will be redone.

The Local commerce by Laurent Laborie will open in the second half of January: “Basically, Matthias Caussade was initially responsible for the project. I explained to him the reason why I wanted to run this business: it was the family home which previously had a café, a restaurant, and a charcuterie business. I found it legitimate to take on this project and he understood very well.”

Honoring the inhabitants

Finally, Michel Teyssedou wanted to thank and highlight 3 habitants of the municipality for their actions. Juliette Teil ceded a plot of 1,800 m2 to the municipality allowing construction of a residential house. Pierre Caldefie, business manager in renewable energies, was seduced by the participatory renovation of the football field and decided to provide lighting for the field free of charge. Finally, Arlette Guy retires at the age of 88 after 31 years as church bell ringer and having seen 10 priests pass by.
