The Customs and Indirect Tax Administration published, this Tuesday, December 24, a circular on the institution of a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of canned tomatoes from Egypt which will be extended for six months.
“Joint order of the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Economy and Finance No. 2996.24 of December 6, 2024, establishing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of canned tomatoes from Egypt (BO No. 7363 of December 23, 2024)”, can we read on the document.
This circular in question informed of the introduction of a provisional anti-dumping duty of 29.93%, applicable for a period of six (6) months from May 31, 2024, on imports of canned tomatoes originating in Egypt, relating to tariff positions:
2002.90.90.11 ; 2002.90.90.19 ; 2002.90.90.91 ; 2002.90.90.99 et 2005.99.35.00.
From now on, the aforementioned joint order establishes the definitive application of this anti-dumping duty for a period of five years. Consequently, the services concerned are requested to proceed with the final collection of the amounts deposited under the provisional anti-dumping duty, as well as the corresponding share of VAT, in accordance with circular no. 6569 of May 31, 2024.
It is also a question of implementing this measure from December 24, 2024. Any difficulty relating to the application of this measure must be reported to the Central Administration under cover of this communication.
