TGCC occupies a leading position in these important sports projects. The company won contracts for the large stadiums of Agadir, Fez and a significant part of the Marrakech stadium. “We are entering 2024 with renewed confidence, determined to continue on this growth trajectory,” declared Mohamed Bouzoubaa, CEO of the group, in the annual financial report published on April 30. He highlights upcoming sporting events in Morocco, such as CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup, calling them great opportunities for the country.

According to him, these events will serve as catalysts to accelerate the Kingdom’s development programs. Jet Contractors, for its part, won the Stade d’Honneur project in Casablanca, while SGTM was awarded the Rabat stadium project. In addition, other calls for tenders are underway for ancillary projects linked to the organization of the next sports competitions that Morocco is preparing to host, in particular the CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup. This first phase concerns work estimated at 9.5 billion dirhams, out of a total budget of 20 billion in the long term.

Growth highways for the sector

Addressing construction professionals in the spring, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, welcomed the economic visibility available to the sector. For him, the construction sector should experience a remarkable recovery in the coming years, benefiting from the increase in public investment and the implementation of structuring programs. Several catalysts exist.

Let us first recall the program of reconstruction and general rehabilitation of the areas affected by the al-Haouz earthquake, which will not be limited to reconstruction, but will be supported by numerous development projects worth 120 billion dirhams (over 5 years). Then, the major events that our country is preparing to host: the organization of the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. These events are not only an opportunity to expand and modernize our infrastructure, but it is also the opportunity to work for the developmentof our country, as desired by King Mohammed VI.

Nizar Baraka confirms a forecast public investment program for 2024, at the level of his department, of 64 billion dirhams. He particularly insisted on supporting measures to organize and structure the construction sector, in order to finalize the creation of a strong ecosystem serving Morocco’s technical sovereignty. Among all the support measures, we will particularly note the classification and qualification of construction companies allowing the creation of a unified system for the entire administration, the improvement of the public procurement framework (reference unit prices and the overhaul of the price review system), the objective of which is to guarantee the final quality of the works, but also the total dematerialization of procedures before the end of 2024 (companies will be exempt of the submission of physical files). Finally, the establishment of the construction observatory (OBTP) to increase the visibility of the construction sector in Morocco.
