As the wishes phase opens this Wednesday, January 15 on the Parcoursup platform for high school students and students, Clémentine Rigot, journalist at l'Étudiant, reminds on Inter that to best succeed in your orientation, “We need wishes for ambition, but we also need wishes for help.” Final year students now have until March 13 to make ten wishes maximum and finalize their file by April 2.

Among the new features this year, the implementation of a new simulator on Parcoursup. This tool “will push students to make more relief wishes, to diversify their basket of wishes”, assures Clémentine Rigot. This simulator must estimate the chances of candidates receiving an admission offer.

As Clémentine Rigot explains, it will allow candidates, by entering their specialties – for example mathematics and physics – and their general average, to see how often the training that interests them took a profile similar to theirs in previous years. They will then receive a probability of the type “rarely, occasionally, over 50 %, more than 80 %”. “This allows you to project yourself a little bit, to see if your profile has often been accepted,” adds the journalist. In case of low chances, the student can then “reorient towards similar training” where he will have more chances.

A tool to “double edge”, concedes Clémentine Rigot, who could discourage applying but who “was done primarily to fight against self-censorship, which is real, which exists among high school students.” “This tool can help encourage people to apply. And then it can also encourage certain students, if they see a message that is a little more worrying, to increase their wishes”she summarizes.
