The actors of Haut-Garonne psychiatry came together to sign a “pact to overhaul the organization of care” in the department. A roadmap to try to respond to the crisis in the sector.

Frédéric Valletoux, Minister of Health at the time, lost his temper last February after several tragedies. In response this Tuesday, the Regional Health Agency presented “a pact to overhaul the provision of psychiatric care in Haute-Garonne”. For the occasion, all health stakeholders in this sector were present: user representatives, management of public hospitals and eight private clinics.

As revealed by La Dépêche (October 7 edition), more than 20 million euros will be allocated to the sector in the department, “to strengthen and support the services and teams”, assures Didier Jaffre, general director of ARS . “The sum will arrive gradually, until 2028. It is above all for operations: financing more human resources and beds.”

The director welcomes the unprecedented nature of such cooperation “between the private and the public”. “The idea of this pact, as its name suggests, is that everyone feels responsible and that we no longer work separately, but together,” he adds. “It was important that we learn to do it.” Less than a year ago, the minister sharply criticized the private sector.

It took more than a year for proposals to emerge from this collaboration. “The negotiations took time,” confides Didier Jaffre. “So that everyone can speak without taboo.” The Regional Health Agency also waited for the publication of the latest report from the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs, last December, in order to bring the pact into line with its recommendations.

The medical-psychological centers will, among other things, be strengthened and two day hospital projects for children and adolescents are being implemented. But the Marchant hospital, which has just lost its certification from the High Authority of Health, is also concerned. “The pact will provide the hospital center with an additional unit, with the creation of 20 additional beds,” says Frédéric Artigaut, director. The resources of the existing ambulatory sectors and their teams will also be strengthened, to be as ready as possible for patients. .”
