the essential
Several months after the social movements at La Poste in West Aveyron, the CGT denounces uneasiness among certain agents. Management indicates that it is continuing the reorganization in order to sustain the activity.
Will mail delivery go smoothly this year? The year 2024 was punctuated by a social conflict at La Poste, in West Aveyron, particularly during the first half of the year, strongly impacting tours. Several employees had gone on strike in the main centers of the territory, in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Villeneuve and Aubin, to contest the reorganization of services in the company.
Mobilizations in 2024
Several mayors and elected officials have also mobilized to support the strikers, and representatives of the CGT met the prefect in October 2024. Since then, the social movement has been at a standstill and the reform of services has been implemented internally. . “In a context of declining mail volumes in Aveyron as everywhere in France, La Poste has changed the organization of several of its West-Aveyron sites in 2024 in order to respond to the challenges of sustaining its activity and to preserve the employment of its factors”, comments the management.
In the blur
For its part, the CGT union says it is in limbo for the coming year. “We don’t know what will happen,” comments Laurence Cahors Departmental Secretary CGT FAPT. “There is no dialogue on either side. Above all, we note a deterioration in the services offered with the new organization imposed. For example, from September to November in Villeneuve, 17 tours could not be provided, because the teams are understaffed. We had warned management for a long time in order to limit the damage.”
“Adapting organizations”
“In 2025, always with the aim of responding to the challenges mentioned above, La Poste will continue to adapt its organizations in consultation with the social partners and the staff concerned,” indicates management.
The union denounces unhappiness within the territory's teams. “The agents have a lot of difficulty accepting the situation, which sometimes forces them to botch the work, reluctantly,” adds Laurence Cahors. “They are on the front line, receiving legitimate criticism from those administered.”
The CGT says it is attentive to potential restructuring to come in 2025, particularly for the Villefranche and Najac offices. “If necessary, we will fight again in the coming months,” continues Laurence Cahors. “In 2024, there was an unprecedented mobilization but unfortunately not followed by negotiations with management. There is a muted anger among the agents because what is happening is unacceptable and not to be heard.”
