[Publico] The very true story of Uncle Louis the Bagnard

Let Adeline present the origins of her show

My grandfather never spoke of his younger brother, his childhood playmate. They had been inseparable, embarked on the same adventures and the same stupidities, rich in all the discoveries that one can make in the countryside. They had mourned the death of their mother together.

It all starts with the discovery of this family secret. I sought to know the truth and I recount Louis' crime throughout my investigation. I also wanted to understand, and I tried to reconstruct his life, from childhood to prison, based on the documents I had: letters, a book, my grandmother's diary. …

Why did Louis become a delinquent? ? What revolt, what injury led him to move away from his environment, refuse the social order, transgress the law ?

I compared all the texts – court judgments, newspaper articles, letters to his brother, a novel from his childhood… – and the figure of Louis appeared, as if superimposed. The clichés of right-thinking people have faded to give way to a being of flesh and desire.
