The restructuring of the activities of the Valloires association has now been effective since January 1, 2025. After several years of supervision, the dissociation of cultural activities and medico-social activities was recorded on December 26 by the supervisory authorities. (the Somme prefecture, the Departmental Council and the Regional Health Agency).

Fifteen days after this decision, the public authorities were present in the premises to verify “the implementation of decisions that were collectively taken to bring order to the organization“, mentioned Rollon Mouchel-Blaisot, the prefect of the Somme.

The three supervisory authorities also wanted to reassure and send a strong message to the 300 employees worried about this new structure. The employees of the Cistercian abbey notably welcome foster children and offer services for the elderly.

No consequences for the staff who are at work today.

Jean Christophe Canler,

Deputy Director of the ARS

Jean Christophe Canler, deputy director of the ARS, expressed the importance “to come here to reassure the staff for both the maintenance of activity on the site and the fact that there are no consequences for the staff who are at work today and who have continued to be at work, including during this somewhat complicated period between Christmas and New Year.

This new episode in Valloires follows a long series. In 2020, a representative was appointed to rethink the structure face “to the major dysfunctions noted for several years in the management and internal organization of the association“, recalled the three supervisory authorities, in the joint press release declaring the dissociation of activities.

A project then emerged: the split into three distinct branches. On the one hand, the management of religious, cultural and heritage activities by the current Valloires association. On the other, the creation of two associations “Valloires Home“, dedicated to the elderly, and “Valloires Childhood“, for children in care.

But two weeks ago, at the general meeting, this new distribution was rejected by the administrators while the various injunctions were reminded of the president and treasurer of the Valloires association. Enough to arouse the anger of the supervisory authorities, who nevertheless decided to act on the dismantling and transfer of liquidity, effective from January 1, 2025.

Rollon Mouchel-Blaisot recalls: “this was the objective of this arrangement between the types of activities. Public money which is financed by the department or the ARS for social actions or child protection actions will only be used for these activities..”

Contacted, the current president of the Valloires association, opposed to the split, did not respond to our requests for an interview.
