An envelope of 2.5 million euros has been allocated to support the Kingdom’s efforts in the fight against illegal immigration.
This aid aims to strengthen the Kingdom’s capacity in terms of border surveillance, and the protection of southern Europe from waves of migrants, relays Al Ahdath Al Maghribia this Monday, January 7.
Previously, Morocco bore the costs of this mission alone, before the European Union (EU) began providing aid to support it in its war against illegal immigration mafias.
This sum of 2.5 million euros is intended for the acquisition of 183 motorcycles, worth 660,000 euros, and 33 vehicles for an amount of 1.9 million euros.
This operation is part of a European project for integrated border and migration management in the Kingdom of Morocco.
It is coordinated by the National and Iberoamerican Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), led by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares.
Both deliveries are scheduled within a maximum period of nine months, and will be sent to the port of Tanger Med.
The contract also includes specialized technical training in vehicle maintenance, in order to guarantee the maintenance and operational durability of the equipment provided.
Since 2019, tens of millions of euros have been transferred to Moroccan institutions as part of security cooperation between Spain and Morocco, relays Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
This contract includes the delivery of all-terrain vehicles, trucks, ambulances, boats, thermal cameras as well as night surveillance equipment.
