The former prefect of Haute-Savoie Georges-François Leclerc has just been appointed prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône and the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Before his appointment in Marseille, he had been chief of staff to the Minister of Labor, Catherine Vautrin, between January and September 2024. Georges-François Leclerc is one of the most emblematic prefects of Haute-Savoie. He had been in post for more than four and a half years between 2012 and 2016, before leaving Annecy for the Alpes-Maritimes. He was then prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis and the North. His stay in Haute-Savoie was marked, among other things, by tackling the issue of brucellosis in Bargy ibex, by the overhaul of the organization of mountain rescue, by the new map of the cantons and even by supporting the creation of a new commune in Annecy. And since the news reminds us, he was also the prefect present in Haute-Savoie during the wave of attacks in 2015. “This department shaped me” he explained when he left Haute-Savoie . In Marseille, he succeeds Christophe Mirmand, who for his part joins Manuel Valls' office overseas.
