Monday January 6, the Marne, the Ardennes and the Meuse were still placed on orange alert by Météo-France for violent winds, in connection with the Floriane disturbance on the Atlantic coast.

A vigilance which ended at 4 p.m. this afternoon, after an intense episode that began at the end of the morning which caused some damage, in particular falling trees which led to power cuts from around 12 p.m., mainly in Argonne.

At 3 p.m., 6,200 households in Champagne-Ardenne were without electricity, compared to 4,300 at 5:30 p.m., according to the second update carried out by Enedis.

Contacted, the manager specified that Marne was the most affected department with 4,400 homes without electricity, as well as 1,340 in the Ardennes, 420 in Aube and 50 in Haute-Marne, departments on the border of the episode .

At 5:30 p.m., the results were 2,870 homes without electricity in Marne, 820 in Ardennes, 250 in Aube, 360 in Haute-Marne. An increase which is explained by diagnostics not completely finalized during the first assessment and potential incidents occurring afterwards, in particular because of weakened lines.

“It’s mostly fallen trees and blown branches. Given the extent of the cuts, it is also not impossible that poles were broken by the force of the wind”indicated Enedis in Champagne-Ardenne.

In the Meuse, where the strong wind episode gradually shifted, 112 km/h was observed in the afternoon in Vassincourt, 102 km/h in Mouzay, 101 km/h in Rouvres-en- Woerve, 98.6 km/h in Courouvre, indicated on its Météo-France website. In Chouilly, next to Épernay in the Marne, the strongest gust was recorded at 112 km/h at 1 p.m. and 100 km/h at the Prunay aerodrome.

The wind also blew up to 85 km/h at -Barberey airport, 80 km/h at Saint-Dizier in Haute-Marne

and up to 96 km/h in the Massif des Ardennes. The firefighters of this department intervened for nine months between 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., particularly for objects threatening to fall or a tree on an electrical wire.

“The company and its service providers are mobilized”would like to emphasize the manager, while agents are deployed until 10 p.m. to carry out diagnostics and resupply homes with electricity.

Enedis would also like to remind you of the safety instructions: never touch a fallen wire, nor any object in contact with a line since humans are conductors. If you witness a failure on the electrical network, you can contact 09 72 67 50 followed by the last two digits of the department, in order to be put in contact with a local team.
